12/04/2011 Summer By Pass

Although it may not feel like it at the moment summer is just around the corner! The question is how to stay cool indoors without air conditioning?

You probably bought your heat recovery ventilation system to recover heat but what about in the summer when you want to introduce cooler air? In the summer months a bypass system allows cool, fresh, filtered air to be introduced without being heated by the heat exchanger. If your system has a integral summer bypass remember to activate it by reading the manufacturers hand book.

It is the start of the hay fever season again! This condition affects around 10-25% of the worlds population and 2 - 3 million Britain's a year. Seasonal hay fever is an allergy to airborne pollens from seasonal plants such as weeds, mould, trees and grass. Sufferers usually start to feel the affect of these pollens in March with them easing in September, which is a long time to be suffering with a constant runny nose!

Is condensation a problem in your house? I remember having to wipe the windows down every morning to clear away the damp dripping from them, not anymore though now I have a heat recovery ventilation system which does that job for me. Condensation is the process by which vapor or gas is converted into liquid this can often be caused as a result of poor ventilation. This is not only a problem for your windows but also your health. House dust mites flourish in damp conditions, which can lead to asthma and other health issues. As well as the health of you and family it also causes problems for your decorating when black mould starts to appear. If you suffer from condensation I would definitely recommend having someone come out to look at you ventilation needs. A heat recovery ventilation system works by removing moisture laden air and replacing with warmer, drier, fresher air.
