11/08/2011 The Heat Recovery Ventilation System on TV!
Did you see DIY Sos: The Big Build on the 2nd of August?
If so you may have noticed it featured a property which was in desperate need of a whole house ventilation system, due to the fact it was an old building. The house was in the middle of a major refurbishment after the family had run out of funds, this is when the SOS team stepped in to move the project along.
A heat recovery ventilation system works by replacing stale, contaminated air with warmed, fresh, filtered air. Importantly 98% of the stale air's heat is recovered using a highly efficient heat exchanger.
As the family suffered from allergies it was important they found a system that could tackle these issues. Heat recovery ventilation systems help allergy sufferers by lowering the relative humidity which has a major impact by lowering the number of dust mites and the airbourne allergens they produce. Pollen and particles which affect hay fever and asthma sufferers are filtered out from the incoming air. The system has provided excellent indoor air quality for the family.

11/07/2011 Energy bills set to increase
As I am sure you are all aware British Gas (and others) have announced 18% and 16% rises in gas and electricity prices!! I for one am wondering how on earth people will be able to afford to heat their homes, especially with the winters being as cold as they have been the last few years!
This is where we can help, a Heat Recovery Ventilation System recovers over 90% of your heat, helping towards keeping your heating bills low. They work by continuously replacing contaminated stale air with warmed, fresh, filtered air. Importantly, a highly efficient heat exchanger is used to recover over 90% of the stale air’s heat and transfers it to the incoming air. Another great thing is that they only use about as much electricity as a light bulb. Read about how we helped a village hall to save money on their bills and our other case studies.

20/06/2011 SAP Appendix Q
What is SAP Appendix Q?
If you are in the process of building your own home you will have come across SAP Appendix Q, but what exactly is it?
Well in simple terms SAP appendix Q is the way in which information, which was not available when SAP was published, is accessible to energy performance assessors. It measures product performance and set boundaries in which only the most efficient products comply with.
What does it mean in terms of a heat recovery ventilation system?
Continuous mechanical ventilation products with or without heat recovery have to be independently tested by the BRE or an approved independent test house, in order to comply with SAP Appendix Q. Every product that does comply is featured on the sap-appendixq.org.uk website.

Look for the logo on our datasheets to see which of our products have been approved by SAP appendix Q.
