With a host of demos and talks, and plenty of experts on hand, they promise to save you time - and money - every step of the way. Next stop we're back on home turf in Yorkshire, with The Northern Homebuilding and Renovating Show from 7th - 8th November. Just 20 miles down the road from our HQ in Skipton, this show is held at the Harrogate International Conference Centre, and sees a gathering of over 250 exhibitors, professional experts and passionate selfbuilders. As the North of England's biggest and dedicated self-build & renovation event, no where else will you find free expert advice, the right products, and services at the right price and inspiration to enable your truly individual home to become a reality. There are seminars, masterclasses, and opportunities to 'ask the architect'. We'll be there on stand 206, so come along and say hello, don't forget your complimentary tickets.

Then, with just a brief pause for breath and re-fuelling, we're off to Somerset. The South West Homebuilding and Renovating Show takes place on 22nd - 23rd November at The Bath and West Showground. The Property

If you've been considering installing energy saving equipment, or have wondered how to renovate your home to make savings on your fuel bill, take a look at this amazing eco Superhome.

This hundred year old Arts and Crafts property in the South Manchester conservation area of Chorlton is owned by our associate, Kit Knowles, who refurbished the property to test and showcase over 100 sustainable technologies and design techniques. The renovation has reached the government target of 80% reduced carbon emissions. An initial fabric first approach, utilising passive building techniques, resulted in a massive reduction in gas and electricity, energy bills have tumbled from £2,500 to £550 without using any renewable electricity generation.  A second stage of active technology integration has increased that yet further with the property achieving no bills at all! To add to this economic transformation, the property and its occupants enjoy improved comfort, occupancy and building health, reduced maintenance and improved durability.

Since their last open day they have created and developed new features around the home including bespoke furniture, which has been crafted from traditional English wood.

There are many energy saving measures installed, including heat recovery ventilation, extensive draught proofing and air tightness membranes, triple glazing, a rainwater harvesting system, external insulation, LED lighting throughout, a micro-condensing boiler and a 93% efficient log burning stove, among many others. We work with Kit to help our customers make the most of their properties, old or new. See how it works in reality in a normal family home.

7/8/14 "Iron Man House" MVHR System supplied and fitted by ADM

We were absolutely thrilled to hear that one of the properties we fitted a Heat Recovery Ventilation System into was recently mentioned by none other than comedian Jason Manford on twitter and facebook!

ADM supplied and fitted the system back in 2009 and the property has since been dubbed the "Iron Man House" and is currently up for sale for £3.5m! It is not surprising as the property is absolutely stunning, check out the photos, we can all but dream!

24/07/14 Hayfever at a peak due to warm weather

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely warm weather? How often do we get to enjoy brilliant blue skies day after day (in this country anyway!) and it’s set to last, well it’s not been good news for everyone. Tree blossom and glorious fields of vivid yellow rape may represent the start of the British summer, but for the 16 million hayfever sufferers in the UK, it brings on a battle with itchy eyes and runny noses.

According to a figures released in England and Wales last month, more than twice as many people visited their GP compared with the same time last year.

The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) stated that 11,873 people came to them with hayfever issues compared to 5,560 during the same period last year. This shows a 114% increase, which is startling!

Maureen Baker, Chair of the RCGP commented on these figures saying: "Each year, seasonal hay fever causes untold misery to thousands of people across the country, especially when we all want to enjoy the warm weather.

"Hayfever is awful but the discomfort should only be temporary and there should be no long-term effects. Whilst in some cases it may be necessary to see a doctor, especially if the symptoms persist, there are many anti-histamine medications that can be bought over the counter at your pharmacist that should provide effective relief.

"Patients that suffer from hay fever can also take simple steps to help minimise their exposure to pollen, such as wearing a hat with a wide brim and sunglasses, and to applying [petroleum jelly] to nostrils to help trap pollen particles."

A heat recovery ventilation system (MVHR) has a major impact on the quality of air within a building. Our systems remove dirty, stale and damp air, and replace it with a constant flow of fresh, filtered air - meaning your environment is healthy for you and your family. Pollen and particles, which affect hayfever and asthma sufferers, are filtered out from the incoming air.
